IN FEAR!

tt2165859.jpgtt2165859.jpg
THE IN FEAR TRAILER!
The director of the film is Jeremy Lovering. Produced by James Biddle and Nira Park. The film is due to be released on the 15th November 2013. Filmed on Arri Alexa Canon 7D and Go Pro (some scenes).  The film is going to be shown in Cineworld, Showcase, Odeon and Vue. On the same day In Fear was released many other films such as Battle of the Year, The Butler, The counsellor, Dom Hemmingway, Don Jon. All featuring well none actors. So it may seem as though In Fear had some competition.
Big Talk Production was the production company involved in the film.
The film is being released only in the UK. Alice Englert and Allen Leech star in it. Alice I recognised from the movie Beautiful Creatures which makes me want to see the film even more.
Filmed in Bodmin Moor, Cornwall, England, UK although it is set in Ireland. The film is to be entered in film festival around the world. Filmed TWO YEARS AGO throughout november and december of 2011. I was unable to find the budget of the film but was able to gather that for a feature film the budget was low.
I found several articles online about the film. Articles from the BBC and The Telegraph can be seen below.

Marvel Logo

Marvel is an American television and motion picture studio based in California. Motion picture is a series of still images which, when shown on a screen, creates the illusion of moving images due to phi phenomenon. Some common examples of Marvels motion picture films are Captain America, dare devil and Spider-man.

Marvel is well known for producing superheroes.

Many of the films that are produced by marvel are often turned into animated television series.
Marvel Studios is a subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment, who is owned by The Walt Disney Company, so Thor the dark world is part of a huge production as Disney is one of the most powerful companies in the media.
According to the Forbes ‘powerful brands list’, Disney comes in 13th place and is the 1st entertainment company.
Thor the dark world was directed by Alan Taylor, Alan Taylor is an American film director, television producer and screenwriter. He is well known for films such as Kill the poor realised in 2003, Playboy in 2011 and the upcoming terminator 5 for 2015.

The development of Thor the dark world was established in April 2011, so there was a lot of preparation that went into the production of Thor.

Brief Production Time Line
Pre-production
-       A new producer, actors, additional script writers and cast members were hired for the second movie.
-       In January 2012 it was announced that filming was expected to take place in the summer of London 2012.
-       The directors and producer agreed that the film would have more of a more ‘Viking influence’ than the original.
Production
-       10 September 2012 filming began in Surrey, England.
-       October production moved to Iceland.
-       An Actor was injured in filming.
-       December last of Filming.
-       July 2013 re-shoots of scenes that weren't in the movie.

-       The film was finished being Edited and complete
-       Marketing started happening and it was announce that Thor the dark world would be digitally re-mastered into the IMAX 3D format and realised in IMAX3D theatres internationally.
-       Official release dates finalised, interviews and promotion.

It is said that a lot of the impact created in the film is because of the ‘cameras used’. Nearly half of Thor the Dark world was shot with cameras using ultra-resolution 15 perf/70mm film. 70 mm film is a wide high-resolution film gauge for still and motion picture photography, with higher resolution than the standard 35 mm motion picture film format.
The equipment used to create the film is advance specialist equipment, which is used to create many high budget Hollywood movies. The movie contains a large percentage of scenes created by the computer using Editing software which enabled these scenes to be created and weaved into the movie seamlessly.

MARKETING

Thors marketing approach was international. Here are some photographs showing some of the marketing campaigns from different countries. The pictures below show American and Portuguese  advertisements.

Marvel is pulling out all the stops promoting the movie Thor the dark world, there’s even been Cross media Convergence as the new release shows a trailer for a possible new video game.

Even though it’s still early days the possibility of there being Merchandise sold is something comic fans are keen on. The official Marvel website doesn't sell merchandise for Thor the dark world however there are product images from various other website which seem quite adamant on the idea.

Examples of various UK Cinema’s that have been listed to screen Thor the dark world are Odeon, Cineworld & Plaza Cinema. Even though the movie Thor the dark world isn’t exclusive to Odeon, the Odeon got the most publicity screening the Film. This is because the Odeon was the cinema chosen to host the premier of Thor the dark world in London, Leicester square. There were also  various advertisements on the Odeon webpage.

The Odeon is a good financial choice to promote the movie as it’s one the UK’s biggest cinemas. The Odeon cinema is operated in the UK and Ireland. The Odeon is a British chain of cinemas situated across various cities in both the UK and Ireland such as London, Manchester, Birmingham and Belfast. Not only is the Odeon one of the most popular Cinema Company’s in the UK but it’s one of the largest in Europe.

The Odeon is the perfect choice for the movies promotion as its affordable and a local place where people can get easy access to watch the film.

There has been speculation about Thor the dark knight being published on DVD, So Far the Movie is only being promoted via Cinema so this may be the only format the film is available in for now. There may be a later realise on Blue ray and DVD but that’s unconfirmed .Thor the dark world will be available to watch in cinemas and selected on-line subscription movie sites, such as Netflix.

The format the movie is being published in is also reliant on the target audience. An older target audience may prefer to watch the movie at home whereas, a younger age group may like a more sociable atmosphere like the cinemas. The target audience for Thor the dark word is mainly aged between 14-24 according to statistic taken in 2012.  Statistic show that 45% of the films audience is made up of 14-24 year olds , and a whopping 46% of the audience are females.

The First Thor was a mega hit with the Box office and it looks like the second will be the same. There has been a ton of promotion and advertisements about the film, which is expected for such a high budget film. but will the movie be good enough for a part 3 or a television spin off?
